Seana Rutherford, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CWS, WCC

Seana is our lead Nurse Practitioner. Beginning as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 2007, she has amassed a wealth of experience in diverse care settings. Seana became a Registered Nurse in 2011 and graduated with honors from Ursuline College in 2015 with a master’s degree in the Science of Nursing focused on Family Practice. She has been a Certified Nurse Practitioner since 2015, building her private practice as a Primary Care Provider and Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) under the American Board of Wound Management. Seana is an expert in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of both acute and chronic wounds and is highly skilled in bedside procedures. With a focus on clinical collaboration and education, Seana also functions as a clinical preceptor for the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy.   

To meet the escalating need for accessible, high-quality wound care for patients in long-term care facilities, Seana transitioned her focus from primary care to a dedicated wound care specialty in 2020. With a unique grasp of the stringent patient care needs in today’s marketplace — for both patients and facilities — she specializes in comprehensive, collaborative wound-care services in long-term care facilities. Seana also maintains privileges at the Cleveland Clinic’s Fairview Hospital and is pursuing her doctorate at Ursuline College, where her work has focused on pressure injury prevention in long-term care facilities.

As a developing young leader in the community, Seana advocates for nurses by participating in several key organizations supporting the advancement of her profession. Her unique perspective is essential as Advanced Practice Nursing continues to evolve in the United States: Seana is a member of the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses (OAAPN), the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (STTI). As a previous graduate, Seana sits on the board of trustees at the Central School of Practical Nursing based in Independence, Ohio, and annually donates her time on medical missions to the Dominican Republic. In her spare time, Seana is passionate about the arts and loves to support the Cleveland Orchestra.
