CLINICAL PRACTICE & LEADERSHIP

A career built
around patient care.

Dr. Rutherford’s career spans nursing, advanced practice, wound management, and the development of clinician-led practices. Her clinical background spans inpatient hospital care, long-term acute care (LTAC), acute rehabilitation (acute rehab), outpatient care, nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, wound centers, and home care.

She is the founder, president, and a nurse practitioner at Healix Wound Care and Lake Effect Health. Those roles bring experience with the everyday realities of assessment, care planning, documentation, and follow-up to her work with attorneys.

Areas of clinical focus include pressure injuries, deep tissue injuries, vascular wounds, diabetic wounds, chronic lower-extremity wounds, and non-healing surgical wounds.

Additional areas include moisture-associated skin damage, stasis dermatitis, cellulitis, infectious wounds, skin tears, burns, radiation wounds, malignant wounds, and skin lesions.

Her expert consulting practice began in 2021. Through Legal Expert Wound Care Consultants, she provides case review, clinical consultation, written reports, depositions, and trial testimony within her professional scope.
